The llama is a hard working quadraped that has served as a beast of burden and a producer of wool for the people of Pern for as long as anyone can remember. For this particular project, Aouda will explore llama behavior and habits, how to handle llamas and how to behave around them, and finally, llama disease and prevention. But first...the basics. Llamas are large shaggy herbavores that generally travel in small herds in the wild. In captivity, an adult llama usually grows to be around 300-450 pounds and six feet tall from the toes to the top of the head. Newborn llamas weigh an average of 30 pounds and are around 30 inches tall. They reach their full growth beneath three and four turns of age and live to be a little over twenty turns old if well taken care of. |
